Why We Started with the A-Frame and Where We're Headed Next

When we first started selling hats, we weren’t trying to reinvent the wheel, we just wanted to make something that felt different, something to bring the spark back to collegiate headwear. We were drawn to a specific style that gained serious momentum in the streetwear world: the A-frame. Known for its structured front panel, slightly higher crown, and modern shape, the A-frame was everywhere in streetwear — but in the collegiate space? Not so much. Hence why we jumped on the opportunity.

We launched our first collegiate A-frame hat because we knew there was a gap. Traditional collegiate hats were either basic dad caps or overly sporty. They lacked the design-forward edge that streetwear was embracing, and we wanted to change that. The A-frame gave us that edge. It looked fresh, elevated, and gave us more surface area to actually design something with intention.

The structure also allowed for more detail in embroidery. The taller crown and sharper angles gave us a canvas to explore typography, layering, patches, and textures in a way that other silhouettes just didn’t. It wasn’t just a stylistic choice, it was a creative unlock. We could build out concepts, not just logos. We could blend vintage inspiration with modern execution. And most importantly, we could make collegiate gear that people wanted to wear outside of game day.

That first batch of A-frames confirmed what we believed: people wanted something different, something that honored their team while also standing out. And from there, things took off.

Fast forward to today and our product line has grown, audience has expanded, and design ambitions have evolved. As much as we still love the A-frame (and always will), we’ve realized that no one hat style fits every idea. So we’ve started branching out.

Now, we offer more than just one silhouette. From dad caps to truckers to snapbacks and five-panels, each new hat style brings its own creative energy. And we approach each one with intention, choosing styles that match the aesthetic of the designs we're working on while keeping the consumer’s stylistic intentions in mind.

If a design feels retro, we might go with a corduroy dad cap or a vintage-washed twill. If it feels sleek and modern, we’ll lean into a high-structured snapback or even a minimal monochrome look. The key is making sure the style of the hat enhances the story we’re telling with the design, rather than just being a background canvas.

Each silhouette has its own personality. The five-panel is perfect for bolder, streetwear-inspired ideas. The trucker lets us play with materials and breathable textures, making it ideal for warm weather drops. The curved brim dad hat gives a nod to nostalgic athleticwear. And every time we explore a new style, we find ourselves discovering new ways to express the brand’s DNA, balancing vintage cues with modern storytelling.

One of the most exciting things about growing as a brand has been unlocking the ability to scale not just in quantity, but in creativity. With more demand comes more resources — And with more resources, we’ve been able to experiment with new materials, new features, and new designs in ways that just weren’t possible before.

We’ve tested out corduroy, sueded cotton, garment-washed textures, mesh overlays, and bold colorways that would’ve felt too risky a year ago. We’ve added details like under-brim embroidery, hidden messages on inside labels, and tonal stitching that rewards people who really look. We’ve played with mixed-material hats and plan to explore even more, because our community keeps showing up for what we create.

It’s important to say this: none of this would be possible without the support of our customers. Every drop you’ve copped, every message you’ve sent, every tag and post and share has helped us get to a place where we can take risks, push the boundaries, and continue building something different.

We’re not interested in being the most known collegiate brand. We’re focused on being the most thoughtful one. The one that brings something new to the table with every drop. The one that respects tradition but refuses to be limited by it.

As we look ahead, we’re hyped about what’s coming. More styles, more materials, more creative ideas. We’ve got some things in the works that we’ve never done before, but we can say with near certainty you’ll love them.

Thanks for being on this ride with us. Your support is what makes this possible, and we’re just getting started.
